Why do you ride?
I ride to clear my mind and strengthen my body. I race because I love the fun yet competitive atmosphere. With cycling, there are always challenges to overcome and limits to push.
What bike do you ride?
Metal Guru
What's your favorite type of ride?
I love climbing, the longer the climb, the better. My favorite trail system is probably FOMBA near Lake Massabesic. The single track trails are short and sweet, but it’s easy to piece together a great ride.
Your best race accomplishment?
The ’06 Mt. Washington Hillclimb takes the cake. I’ve always loved this race, and finishing in an hour twelve significantly impacted my riding and racing more than winning a mountain bike race ever did. I learned so much about my body under those racing conditions that I will carry with me into future races.
How many races do you do a year?
As many as an overworked college student can get to.
Pre-race routine:
Hydrate, eat well, stay focused.
Post-race food faves:
Pizza. I always crave it during my races, and there’s nothing better than satisfying that longing after a hard morning in the saddle.
Training or racing tips?
Ride often, and do some fun and interesting cross training. Burning out physically is never fun, but burning out mentally is much worse.
