...And what a fun, fast bike it is! It steers without fuss whether you're feathering through a 2mph J-turn littered with ice-slick roots all conspiring to throw you to the ground, or bombing a fire road at (uh oh!) too-fast pace. When it came time to pound out some vertical, the Manitou S-Type shock hardly budged, unless called upon to prevent punishing ground from echoing through the bike's chassis. Another shout out goes to the bent top tube, which lowers standover and center of gravity, allowing you to perform whatever trail gymnastics might be required. Are we going to be misty eyed about the steel front end? The Groover doesn't need an old-school crutch to be cool. It's as up-to-date a ride as any bike made of any other metal. DR: What motivated you to start making 29" wheeled mountain bikes?
CS: It sounded like a really fun bike to ride. Riding a bicycle is a fun experience. I want to instill this basic feeling in all of my products, and I feel that is my main contribution to the industry.... read more
